jawline slimming/clenching

There is a muscle in our jaw called the masseter.

This is the muscle that you can feel clenching by your back teeth when you press your teeth together. Over time with clenching and grinding and eating, the muscle grows larger and stronger.

By injecting botulinum toxin into this muscle we can help inactivate it. This then leads to muscle wastage as the other “muscles of mastication” counter-act to allow you to chew as before.

As the muscle wastes, the lower face appears slimmer, your biting force reduces, and so muscle aches, headaches and clenching and grinding become significantly reduced.

However please note, it can be trickier to chew hard foods after this treatment, some patients find subsequent mild weight loss a side effect!
